All the Feels
One of the key reasons for the success of Star Trek Fleet Command is how much the game feels like Star Trek. The players are fans of the franchise. It’s why they play. So it is important to know the series as much as the players do, and what they might expect of a particular franchise. Strange New Worlds is a great addition to the Trek universe. It has a great mix of genres and straddles everything from comedy to drama, and after two seasons there are already things that we as viewers can expect. One such thing is a fun Spock episode, in which the conflicting sides of Spock’s biology, his Human and Vulcan sides, are at the core of the episode.
When we set out creating missions based on Strange New Worlds, I wanted to stay true to that formula, so I crafted my own fun Spock episode. In this mission, Spock is seconded to a Starfleet vessel crewed entirely by Vulcans. Naturally, they all look down on Spock for his hybrid genetics, and make no efforts to hide their disdain behind typically passive aggressive politeness. However, an encounter with a spatial anomaly renders the crew emotional wrecks, with only Spock left unaffected and therefore charged with both returning his crew mates to their natural state and navigating their increasingly emotional outbursts.
Below are the dialogues from the opening two objectives of mission one of the five that make up the entire narrative.
